- Total time: 1 hour 35 minutes
- Servings: 9 paus
Ingredients
- 2 cups Hathi Brand 100% Whole Wheat Chakki Atta
- 1 cup warm milk (or water)
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon instant yeast
- 2 tablespoons butter or oil
- Extra butter for brushing.
Method
- In a bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until it turns frothy.
- Add whole wheat atta and salt to a large mixing bowl. Pour in the yeast mixture and knead into a soft dough. If needed, add more warm milk or water gradually.
- Add butter and knead the dough for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest in a warm place for an hour or until doubled in size.
- Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into 9 equal portions. Roll each portion into a smooth ball and place them in a greased baking tray, leaving slight gaps.
- Cover and let them rise again for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake for 18–20 minutes or until golden brown on top.
- Brush with butter while warm for a soft, glossy finish.
- Serve warm with bhaji, butter, or your favorite spread!
