Ingredients

  • 1 cup Hathi Brand 100% Whole Wheat Chakki Atta
  • 2 tbsp gram flour (besan)
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp roasted cumin powder
  • 1 tsp ajwain (carom seeds)
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Water for kneading.

Method

  • Prepare the dough: Mix atta, gram flour, turmeric, chili powder, cumin powder, ajwain, sesame seeds, salt, and oil in a bowl. Gradually add water to form a firm dough. Let it rest for 10 minutes.
  • Roll out the khakhra: Divide the dough into small portions. Roll each into thin, circular sheets using a rolling pin.
  • Cook the khakhra: Heat a tava or griddle over low heat. Place the rolled sheet on the tava and cook on one side until light brown spots appear. Flip and press gently with a cloth or spatula for even cooking.
  • Crisp up: Repeat the flipping and pressing until the khakhra becomes crispy and golden brown.
  • Cool and store: Let the khakhras cool completely and store them in an airtight container.
  • Enjoy as it is or with masala chai or coffee!
